What's news in Elemental Menu version 2.0.0?
Elemental Menu version 2.0.0 was just released. There’re important changes you should know before upgrading.
Naming problem
As you may know, Elementor Team will release their own Mega Menu widget this year (watch their sneakpeek video). Back when we was creating Elemental Menu, we didn’t think about it. We just named the widget with the slug mega-menu
and published it. The problem is that if Elementor Team also names their widget as mega-menu
, there will be a naming collision which may break our Elemental Menu widget.
To avoid that, since version 2.0.0, Elemental Menu has been rewritten with a different slug and prefixes. It means that you can’t upgrade from v1 to v2, data from v1 is not compatible with v2. So, we strongly recommend you to install v2 in your every new project.
For v1 users, don’t panic, we still do long-term support for v1. In the worst case, if the naming collision problem happens, we will help you migrate to v2 for free.
Fullscreen Layout and Featured Image
We added Fullscreen Layout and Featured Image with superb transitions to help you create modern accessible menus easily.

Elementary Menu widget
Prior to version 2.0.0, to create nested menus, we use the Icon List widget. But the Icon List widget has many limitations so we created a new Elementary Menu widget which is designed for creating advanced nested menus with better performance.

Inline SVG
Since version 2.0.0, Elemental Menu won’t support custom font icons. Everything will be will be rendered as inline SVG directly. As you may know, loading a custom font icon is not a good idea for performance. We strongly recommend you to insert SVG icons directly.
